Alliance for Compassion and Tolerance Scholarship Program
The purpose of this scholarship is to support deserving individuals who have demonstrated an interest in and are prepared to integrate interfaith understanding into their daily life and have a commitment to promoting interfaith dialogue to others. Applicants should be enrolled in high school or continuing education in college or university. Two recipients will be chosen for an 'Interfaith Essay' for a $500 award each. One applicant will be selected for their 'Interfaith Blog' for a $1000 award.
This scholarship will be awarded to 2 current high school or college students for writing a winning essay on interfaith relations. The winning essays will be written with the intent to publish as an editorial to media outlets and will be awarded $500 for each essay selected. The topic should reflect the writer's perspective on the importance of Interfaith Dialogue and make a compelling case for promoting compassion, tolerance and interfaith understanding. Essays should be less than 500 words. Submission deadline is February 28, 2018. Applicants should send inquiries to firstname.lastname@example.org. The Scholarship Review Committee will meet to review applications and select from the pool of essays. Decision to be announced March 30, 2018.
This scholarship will be awarded to 1 current high school or college student for creation of a blog on interfaith relations that promotes compassion, tolerance and interfaith understanding. The winning applicant and will be awarded $1000 for either the creation or facilitation of an online blog or forum where interfaith dialogue is promoted and serves as a virtual convening point for interfaith activities. Criteria for blogs for consideration:
-Consistent postings for 6 months prior to applying
-Be positioned to create a following or have an established following already

Organizing bus tours
We organize bus tours of places of worship to promote better understanding among diverse faiths. The first bus trip of 2018 will be in January of 2018! Sign up for our newsletter to receive updates.
We volunteer in a refugee resettlement program and deliver meals to homebound senior citizens.
Participating in activities
We participate in annual Houston Compassion Week activities.
We provide speakers on topics to promote compassion and tolerance.
Hosting interfaith iftar
We host an annual interfaith iftar, the breaking of fast by Muslims during the month of Ramadan.
We fund small grants to support new initiatives to promote compassion and tolerance, such as a scholarship program administered by ACT.
Participating in collaborative initiatives
We participate in collaborative initiatives to counter violence, racism, and religious discrimination.
